Leaving for GA in 2 days - some work to do still with organizing papers and things but with today's good news from the Methodist Church, UK, I am feeling ready to go.
The Methodists in the UK announced, with perfect timing for PCUSA, a boycott of goods from illegal israeli settlements. Hallelujah!

it's going to be great...
so we launched this new website with 2-way communications. I am hoping to post to it from General Assembly - pictures, videos and news... Let's hope we get a few people signing on to the community. It would be nice to get a few people attending GA to post here about the comings and goings. meantime, check out Jim Wall's new piece about the"Kangaroo Court."
Yesterday we watched the England/USA game in the World Cup - it was a draw which is really a win for the US since England is supposedly the strongest team in the group of 4 with Slovenia and Algeria. The US goal was what the Brits call a "howler" as you howl in pain every time you think of it: the goalie fumbled it and it rolled out of his hand and into the goal. Painful! So this morning, the British press is lambasting the whole game. The Brits are definitely more comfortable in the position of criticizing themselves than praising themselves - just the opposite of the US sports press. So here is the winning headline, imho, of the best line out of all the sarcastic lines this morning: The Hand of Clod
